In addition to government actions that deal specifically with minerals other government activities, such as voluntary acquisitions, eminent domain/condemnation, and regulatory takings and related activities, may require qualified evaluations or appraisals of property that does or may contain minerals. The Federal Interagency Real Property Appraisal Committee (FIRPAC) and the Federal Financial Institutions Regulatory Agencies require that all appraisals be performed in accordance with the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). For eminent domain, condemnation, or other takings appraisals must also be performed in accordance with the Uniform Appraisal Standards for Federal Land Acquisitions of the Interagency Land Acquisition Conference. The 18 members of FIRPAC are concerned with real property acquisition and government loan programs. The following federal agencies are represented by FIRPAC:

Bureau of Land Management Department of Veterans Affairs
Bureau of Reclamation Department of Agriculture
Justice Department United States Forest Service
