present a discussion of some of the differences between appraising a mineral property and
a mining business. A business appraisal may be more concerned with valuing the shares of
the mining company instead of the physical mineral property and machinery and equipment
values. Discounts for marketability and minority interests in private companies are
normally used in business valuation while similar discounts may not apply to a mineral
property. The United States Internal revenue Service has established certain definite
procedures for business valuation in addition to those contained in the Uniform
Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice. Discuss your mineral property appraisal, mining
